As we get older for some staying in shape gets more difficult so below is a simple safe diet plan that will help you get rid of those extra pounds maybe left over from the festivities, this is not intended to permantley replace your normal diet
it just gives you a kick-start.

Very-Low-Calorie Diets

Very-low-calorie diets often contain 500 to 800 calories a day and can cause you to lose up to 5 pounds weekly. These diets often consist of taking protein-rich nutrition shakes or bars to meet daily nutritional needs, and they are designed for people who have a significant amount of weight to lose. Although very-low-calorie diets can cause fast weight loss in women in there 50s, they do require medical supervision because nutrient deficiencies and unpleasant — even dangerous — side effects may occur on these diets.

Safe Weight Loss

If you don’t have so much weigh to lose that your doctor prescribes a very-low-calorie diet, you can safely lose weight on your own by reducing your daily calorie intake by 500 to 1,000, which will cause you to lose about 1 to 2 pounds per week. This is a safe rate of weight loss that will allow you to shed pounds but prevent nutritional deficiencies and other unwanted side effects of fast weight loss. Individualized total daily calorie needs for weight loss vary based on weight but are generally around 1,200 calories for women. In general, you should avoid eating fewer than 1,200 calories daily unless supervised by a doctor.

Sample Meal Plan

Using 1,200-calorie meal plans is one way for women in there 50s to plan daily weight-loss menus. A sample meal plan containing 1,200 calories a day, as laid out in Dietary Guidelines, includes 1.5 cups of vegetables, 1 cup of fruit, 3 ounces of protein foods, 4 ounces of grains, 2.5 cups of dairy foods, 17 grams of oils and 100 extra calories daily.

Sample 1,200-Calorie Menu

Using that sample meal plan, a 1,200-calorie weight-loss menu for women in their 50s may include 1/2 cup of cooked oatmeal, 1 cup of plain Greek yogurt, two egg whites and 1/2 cup of strawberries for breakfast. For a morning snack, try 1/2 cup of cantaloupe with 1 ounce of almonds. A healthy lunch might include 2 ounces of canned light tuna, 1 teaspoon of mayonnaise, two slices of whole-wheat bread, a slice of reduced-fat cheese and 1/2 cup of celery. For an afternoon snack, try 1 cup of low-fat cottage cheese. A healthy dinner might include 2 ounces of grilled chicken breast, 2 cups of leafy greens, 1 tablespoon of Italian salad dressing, 1/2 cup of cherry tomatoes and one whole-wheat dinner roll

We hope this helps its simple and safe and not only will you shed some pounds you will feel better also.

Its time to face the New Year February is nearly upon us so lets look at New Year resolutions.

So for many its will be losing those extra pound we put on over the festivities so maybe its getting back down the gym, or trying some new fancy diet but why not consider having a massage you may not lose weight but you will feel great and isn’t that what life’s all about. If you visit us you can experience a full Tibetan massage that and for a while you will forget about the pain of exercise and diets, because after a massage you will feel like you are floating on air.

Pronounced “Coon- Yee” Tibetan Massage has been practiced for thousands of years in Tibet and the Himalayan region of Asia as an integral part of Tibetan Medicine.

Most people appreciate a great massage to soothe muscle pain, relieve stress, and restore from fatigue. How nurturing and therapeutic! Massage is actually one of the most ancient and elemental methods of treatment in human history. It requires no equipment or technology, beyond the application of our intuitive knowledge and our physical bodies. Although it is very simple and natural, as many of us can attest, massage is extremely effective. Even just a few minutes of massage can shift our stressful, tension-holding state into a relaxed and soothing state. It can “switch on” our natural relaxation and restoration functions, and “switch off” our stress mechanisms. An extended massage session with our experienced practitioner can simply work wonders, leaving you feeling amazing.

The Three Stages of Kunye Massage

There are three basic stages to a traditional Kunye Massage. These are: “applying oil, massaging in, wiping off.”

First, oil is generously applied to the body. For best results, we use heavy, sweet natured oils. In fact, traditionally in the mountains of Tibet, clarified (female yak) butter is used, and is believed to have fantastic therapeutic properties. We also use oils infused with various herbs. We choose which kind of oil to use based on each person’s individual constitution and symptoms, as well as factors such as the season, local environment and other conditions.

Next, a variety of massage strokes and techniques are employed. Extra attention is paid to the hands, feet, head, and the “special points” described in the classical texts of Tibetan Medicine. Kunye Massage generally starts slow and gentle, working up to more vigorous action and deeper work on key muscles and specific points.

At the end of the session, the excess oil is wiped off. We can use a warm wet towel for this, however the traditional way is to scrub the skin with dry chickpea flour. This opens the pores, absorbs excess oil leaving just the right amount in the skin. The result is hydrated, nourished skin and a radiant complexion.

The Benefits of Ku Nye:

Kunye is beneficial as a stand-alone treatment as well as a preventative measure against illnesses and supportive treatment in conjunction with treatments. It is an excellent way to relax and promote general health and well-being. Since ancient times in Tibet, it has been believed that Kunye aids in longevity by clearing and sharpening the sensory organs while supporting the function of the internal organs.

Kunye is excellent for the following conditions:

Neurological problems including numbness, sciatica, and paralysis Psychological and emotional imbalances including agitation, anxiety, depression, moodiness, forgetfulness, lack of concentration, and insomnia.

Stress related problems including migraine headaches and tension headaches; also back pain including upper, middle, and lower back

Kunye can also help with constipation, tight muscles, joints and ligaments, neck and shoulder rigidity, Poor circulation and rough and dry skin.

This is it. The last-minute gift is now sitting under the tree, the dress has been dry-cleaned and is now ready to be worn, and the turkey is in the oven. All you need to do is just make yourself presentable for the evening Christmas dinner. Hairstyle, makeup, manicure… take a look at the best tips to make yourself feel and look good at Christmas this year with the compliments of Beauty Elite.

Being your most attractive during Christmas does not only mean piling on the makeup and having a perfect hairstyle. Yes, ladies, you have to prepare well in advance. A few days before the festivities, be sure to eat healthy, reduce excess alcohol consumption, and drink plenty of water to avoid unsightly blemishes. Also, make sure you get a good night’s sleep in order to dodge those panda eyes and that dull complexion.

The holidays are an opportunity to be a little more daring than usual with your makeup looks. You can go full-on glitter crazy, and try on that vibrant eye shadow you’ve always been too afraid to flaunt. This isn’t like going to a formal dinner; this is a fun it’s Christmas! A bold lipstick shade like a classic flaming red or a very dark matte would stand out perfectly. You can of course pay us a visit and experience our fabulous semi-permanent make up.

We all want to shine brightly during the holiday, so we say, “yes!” to highlighting makeup. Illuminate your shadows; apply it delicately on the edge of your nose and on the top of your cheekbones for a chic look. There are plenty of different highlighting makeup products out there – from powders to sticks. You just need to choose the one that suits you best.

A festive hairstyle does not necessarily mean going crazy. If you opt for an OTT makeup look, perhaps avoid an OTT hairstyle. A nice loose bun or fishtail braid will be perfect for the evening. You don’t want to look too “slick” and “made up” – the holidays means being a little more laid-back and fun with your appearance! However if you do want to push the boat out visit us here at Beauty Elite we specialise in hair extensions so you can look as glamorous as you want.

Thicken up those lashes by going for some falsies. A natural look will do, don’t bother with those complex lashes with rhinestones and odd colours. Nothing beats a doe-eyed look in holiday photographs! You’ll look perfect in every snapshot! Why you are on our website visit our gallery and see the fantastic eyelashes we can offer you, plus of course we can enhance your eyebrows with microblading.

When it comes to your hands, your manicure should be impeccable. Avoid glittery glazes – it’s not a chic look, especially after a certain age. Pick classic colours that are effectively eye-catching like red, burgundy, or why not black? And if you intend to wear sandals, do not forget the varnish on your toenails! Tip: Do your nails the night before to let dry and avoid any last-minute mishaps, or let us do them for you.

We rarely think about it, but your neckline can also be highlighted. If you have invested in a V-neck dress, do not hesitate to apply a little highlighting powder to the hollow of your chest. Sultry glamour, activated!

After a glass of wine, a few dances, a bit of rushing around… even the biggest Hollywood stars don’t spend an entire evening out without touching up their makeup every few hours. The ultimate secret to being your most beautiful during a dinner party is to regularly look after your appearance. After all, you spent plenty of time putting your look together – you’re going to want to maintain it! Re-powder your nose, reapply your lipstick… this will help you look put-together all night long.

I am sure the majority of us wants to look beautiful, and especially at Christmas, so below are a few of our treatments that can give you an edge.

One of our most successful treatments is Dermal Fillers yes if you want to look young again this is one of the main treatment’s that can get you there, and these are the benefits.

Dermal fillers can be used to fix a variety of concerns related to facial aging, including:

  • Adding volume and smoothing out the deep creases that run from the nose to the mouth called laugh lines.
  • Plumping thin lips and smoothing out vertical lines around the edges of the lips.
  • Augmenting cheeks to enhance their shape, often restoring youthful fullness.
  • Filling out depressions (hollows) under the eye area.
  • Making indented scars from acne or chicken pox more even with surrounding skin.
  • Increasing volume to fill out gauntness in the lower cheek or temple area, which most often occurs due to fat pads shifting beneath the surface of skin.

We have seen all our clients leave the salon happy and looking 10-15 years younger and more, and used in conjunction with PDO Threads your look will have the perfect natural balance so no one will know you have received these Beauty treatments except maybe your close friends and family.

Lets take another look at how we can make you appear young again and give you a tight blank canvas to apply your make up on, maybe enhance your look with semi-permanent makeup.

Micro-Pigmentation is in its simplest form carefully applied Natural Coloured pigments introduced into the Dermal Layer of the skin using a tiny Micro-Needle to create colour and balance, creating amazing results to enhance the eyes, brows and lips.

Eyeliner defines and increases the beauty of a woman’s natural eye. It will make the lashes appear thicker fuller, even if mascara is not worn. The semi- permanent make up colour is tattooed to both the lower and upper lash lines of the eyes creating a defined look around the eyes. Normally the eye-line will be done in two sessions i.e. Tops or bottoms on the first appointment then the second will be done a few days later. After 4 weeks, to allow the eye-line to be fully healed, and the colour fully developed, a FREE follow up appointment will be made if necessary to finely tune the make-up and reinforce the colour. The eyeliner normally will last upwards of 4 years.

To include one free re-touch after 1 month normally.

Shape and colour of a woman’s lips is another huge key facial feature to the appearance of a woman, with semi-permanent make up we will create your lips to look balanced, more vibrant, and for them to appear fuller and more sensual. Lip colour can be applied either as a liner, or on the entire lip surface

With the semi-permanent process Lip liner can serve many purposes and has many advantages like correcting imperfections of shape or symmetry. We at Beauty Elite redefine the shape of the lips to create a more desirable look. We can blend the lip liner colour to gradually match the colour of full lip, or a bolder colour can be used for the lip liner. The Lip-line normally will last upwards of 2 years.

The eyebrows are one of the most important features of a women’s face, it frames the eyes and gives the face its individual expression. We will study the shape and contours of our client’s face, their individual style, and bone- structure. We will then design the eyebrows into their most desired and flattering shape and colour possible. Clients of Beauty Elite whom have uneven eyebrows or brows that are too thin, sparse or non-existent are filled in with a natural looking hair-by-hair process, or powder effect eyebrows if desired. Depending on the strength of colour, they will normally last between 2 and 4 years.

BEAUTY ELITE PHIBROW Micro-Blading  (Soft Touch)

Micro-Blading (Phibrow) is a process that has been around for some years for Eyebrows, but has recently become very popular. We use a multi –needle, normally 7, 11 or 14 points in a straight line and slanted, or curved in a hand piece holder. This is a manual method and we do not use a rotary machine. The effects are incredibly fine and give the illusion of very fine hairs which can be orientated in various directions to simulate the natural growth patterns of normal eye brows, but much NICER. This system is not suitable for everyone, but is ideal for young skin with darker eyebrows, or a fill in of patchy brows.

Due to the delicate nature of this technique we offer 2 free retouches, after 1 month and then 3 months to extend the life of the process. We recommend this process to be renewed annually.

The Fountain of Youth

If only there was a fountain of youth that you could drink from, especially when life has you feeling even older than you really are. While you can’t literally return to your youth, there are some things you can do that will make you feel young again.

Get your shut-eye

Your body needs at least eight hours of sleep every night to restore it. Unfortunately, most people are not getting the proper amount of sleep at night.

“The only time your body can truly restore itself is when you’re asleep.

Don’t forget your strength training

“When done properly, weight-training makes micro tears in the muscles, which leads your body to generate thicker, stronger muscle fibre.

Greene suggests using dumbbells while targeting your core and lower body with lunges, calf-raises, and squats three times a week.

Accentuate the positives

“Cultivating a greater sense of optimism will provide you with more positive energy to motivate you to do youthful things. The goal is not to deny the less-than-pleasant stuff that is happening, but rather to focus on what’s going well.

Give the gift of yourself

Research has shown that volunteering your time for a worthy cause can give you mental and physical benefits. In a study by researchers at Johns Hopkins University, it was found that older adults over the age of 55 who volunteered weekly to help children in a classroom had an increased activity level for at least three years after.

Anything that increases a level of activity for a long period of time is a huge plus, but the real news here is that this particular kind of volunteer work benefits children and the educational system as well as the volunteers, demonstrating the potential benefits for what many are calling an intergenerational social contract.”

Engage your social side

“Staying active and engaged is very important in terms of cognitive and emotional health. Maintaining a connection to others in social settings is important to mental, emotional, and physical health. Consider joining a club, church group, or hobby organization in order to connect with others who share your interests.

Take on a new hobby

Once you hit retirement age, or your children move away to college, you may wonder how to fill your time. The sense of an empty nest can be daunting and lonely. Instead, find fulfilling ways to spend your time by trying out a new hobby. Learning to play a musical instrument, writing that book you always dreamed of, or expressing your artistic side are all ways to find enthusiasm and joy in life.

Connect with nature

Make the time to enjoy outdoor activities every day. The sunlight helps you produce vitamin D and serotonin, which can boost your immune system and your mood. The simple beauty of nature also provides a sense of calm and peacefulness.

Take a cue from those who know

If you want to feel young, then spend time with people who are. Grandchildren can be a great source of joy, wonder, and vitality. Few things in life can make you feel youthful and free quite like the simple act of playing. Make-believe, dress-up, building blocks, or even colouring are like a vacation from the stresses of the real world.

Go and see the sights

Whether you dream of traveling to exotic locales, or just taking in local tourist sites that you’ve never had the time to see before, pack your bags and hit the road. Each new sight is a discovery, and the act of discovering is revitalizing all by itself. Not to mention you can make wonderful memories along the way. Choose a destination, or just head off blindly and see where the road takes you.

Stress Less

Getting older without being doomed to wrinkle-dom and jiggly thighs does not require a high-priced trainer beauty treatments will still carry many benefits. We know the secrets for winding back time naturally. This advice will help you stay young and have you looking and feeling everyday fabulous, by doing everyday smart things: exercise, eat healthy, de-stress — not so hard, right? Try it today.

  1. Give yourself a break

Recent studies show that stress causes physical changes in the body that can accelerate aging. Surges of the hormones adrenaline and cortisol cause blood pressure to rise and the heart to beat faster. These days, when our stressors seem unrelenting (a steady stream of job pressures, traffic jams, money problems), chronic doses of adrenaline and cortisol take a heavy toll on our physical and emotional health. “Sixty to 90 percent of all doctors’ visits each year are related to anxiety, depression, obsessive anger and hostility, insomnia, high blood pressure, heart attacks — all problems caused by stress.

The most effective way to halt this destructive chain of events is to meditate, Try it! Once or twice daily, for 10 to 20 minutes (yes, you do have the time — you just have to make it), sit in a quiet place, close your eyes, relax your muscles, roll your head, neck, and shoulders, and breathe deeply. On each exhale, repeat your mantra. Do yoga, or something active and repetitive, like running, instead. Focus on your breathing and how your feet land with each stride.

  1. Consume more fat

The healthy kind, that is. Omega-3 fatty acids (found in salmon, walnuts, and seeds) help stabilize your mood, maintain bone strength, and help prevent visible signs of aging by reducing inflammation in the joints Omega-3s also boost the ability of the body’s enzymes to pull fat out of storage, from your hips and use it as energyOmega-3s keep you healthy and your skin radiant.”

  1. Get off the couch

Not only does regular exercise help you lose weight, tone muscles, build healthier bones, and boost mood, it can also help you think clearly. Try it! Make time for three 20-minute workouts a week, run, bike, swim, dance do whatever you enjoy most.

  1. Feel the love

Anyone who’s ever fallen head over heels or discovered an activity that makes them eager to jump out of bed in the morning knows that passion is a powerful drug. The ability to embrace life boosts self-esteem, fuels the immune system, and improves cardiovascular health. Passion in bed can be particularly beneficial: “Loving touches release hormones, including oxytocin, that reduce stress and anxiety. Try it! Banish boredom and isolation at all costs. Rekindle the flames with your partner. Or discover a new love in the form of a mental or physical pursuit.

  1. Do yoga

More energy, better posture, greater flexibility, improved mood, and less stress are just some of the rewards of this mind-body workout. Through conscious yoga breathing, you become aware of the connection between mind and body.” That translates into major anti-aging advantages. Yogic breathing has been shown to oxygenate the cells, ridding them of toxins, helping prevent illness, and making skin radiant. Unlike other exercises, yoga poses are designed to work the inside of your body as well as the outside, which helps rejuvenate the digestive system, the reproductive system, even the immune system.

  1. Do mental aerobics

A study published in last year shows that brain exercises can prevent cognitive decline, and the benefits can last for as many as five years. Strengthen your mind every day by doing crossword puzzles, Sudoku, or Brain Games,

Yes we can give you that perfect youthful facial look but its up to you to take care of your body and mind.

1. You Wash Your Hair Every Day
As a general rule, hair should be washed as often as needed. For most people that’s every two to three days. Any more, and you risk stripping your hair of its natural, protective oils that keep it shiny and healthy. This is especially true for people who colour their hair, as over-washing can dull the vibrancy of their colour.

Of course, there are other factors involved. If you work out and sweat a lot, you may not be able to wait three days. In that case, try rinsing with water, scrubbing the scalp, and conditioning your ends only. If you’re dealing with a super oily scalp, look into a hydrating shampoo and conditioner. It sounds counterintuitive, but your body may be producing more oil due to dryness—attempting to naturally fix the problem. Second, invest in some dry shampoo to extend the time between washes.

2. You Use Too Much Conditioner

To avoid greasy strands, apply conditioner on the ends of the hair, where it truly needs hydration, not the scalp. Start with an amount about the size of a euro and try to disperse it evenly throughout the hair

3. The Wrong Shampoo

Sulphates, the cleansing agents in shampoos, have become the gluten of the hair world.

While they don’t pose any serious health hazards, some people find these chemicals dry out hair, skin, and scalp, or strip away colour, If you’re seeing tangling, frizziness, and split ends, try a sulphate free shampoo, which can clean your hair gently. Just keep in mind it won’t get as sudsy as a regular shampoo.

4. You Never Use a Deep Conditioner

It may sound like an unnecessary step, but the pros we spoke with all recommend using a deep conditioner—especially if your hair is dry, damaged, or split from colouring or heat styling, Use a treatment, at least once per week, get in the habit of pampering your hair, and you’ll notice it behaves and looks better.”

If you colour your hair, use a deep conditioner the week leading up to and after any chemical process it’ll help prepare your hair for battle, seal the hair cuticle, and prevent breakage.”

5. Been Using the Same Shampoo and Conditioner Since School
Your hair gets used to shampoo and conditioner—and then the products start to leave behind a residue. If you’re more non-committal, keep a few different formulas in the shower to use depending on how your hair feels

After the Shower
6. You Brush Your Hair When It’s Wet
Wet hair is much weaker than dry hair, so treat it carefully. One of the worst things you can do is tug a brush through it, forcing tangles apart. Instead, try brushing your hair before hopping in the shower to work out knots and air out the roots.

During your shower, consider using a wide-toothed comb to work the conditioner through your strands. After, use a comb to work out tangles from the bottom, working your way up to the roots for the least damage Bottom line: Use a brush only on dry hair and a wide-toothed comb on wet hair.
7. You Roughly Towel Dry
This isn’t the worst you can do, but it’s definitely not the best. After showering, don’t vigorously rub your hair with a towel—gently blot instead blotting will not rough up the cuticle and cause frizz. If you  want to go the extra mile? Use a paper towel to dry your hair, this is the most gentle, if not the most practical, method possible.

8. You Use Too-Hot Tools
Whether your hair is fine and thin or coarse and thick will determine which heat setting will get the job doneSo it’s fortunate that most hot tools, like straighteners and curling irons, come with adjustable temperature settings.

Don’t crank it to the hottest setting right off the bat start at 300 degrees. If you’re getting the desired results, stay there. If not, gradually turn up the heat until you do. Typically coarse hair requires higher temps than fine hair. And no matter what, always use a heat protector As for those wet-to-dry hot tools intended for use on damp hair? They’re a no-go never use hot tools on wet hair it can burn the hair.”
9. You Skip Heat Protectant
It’s like asking if you need an oven mitt to pull something out of the oven. Spraying a heat protector on your hair proactively protects hair from heat damage, plus it seals in shine, calms frizz, and keeps hair from becoming dry,

10. You Use Too Many Styling Products
You only need three products: a protectant, a styling product (like a mousse for volume or an anti-frizz cream for sleekness), and a finishing product (like hair or texture spray). Use cremes and oils sparingly, and only apply to the mid-shaft through ends—a little goes a long way.

At the Salon
11. You Avoid Haircuts
While the six-week rule is definitely not set in stone, most people need a trim about every three months; for others, it’s shorter or longer..

Trying to grow out your hair? As soon as you start to notice split ends or the ends seem “see-through” or brittle, it’s time to take action. “The damage will just continue up the shaft, so by the time you [eventually] go for a cut, you’ll end up having to cut more than you would have if you’d just bitten the bullet with the trim.
12. You Overdo Chemical Treatments
Allow yourself two per year at most (aside from colouring), don’t believe the chemicals are harmless, they aren’t great to breathe in on a regular basis also spend your money on heat protectors, irons, and conditioning treatments instead of relaxing or straightening treatments.

If you must, only do relaxers every six to eight weeks, or ideally, up to 12 weeks.

We hope these tips will be of benefit to you and contact us if you require any further advice.

Dry skin can make you look dull and old. It is absolutely essential to provide your skin hydration so that it looks healthy. But it is not just the people with dry skin who need to do this. Not many know that even people with normal, combination, and oily skin must also moisturize their skin.

If you want your skin to stay free of these problems, you’ll need to moisturize it daily.

Although there are many moisturizers available in retail shops and online stores, you could do with some ingredients found right at your home. These homemade moisturizers contain fresh nutrients and can provide amazing results. Here they are!

  1. Oils
  2. Honey
  3. Aloe Vera Gel
  4. Milk Or Buttermilk
